WTF?

Warning!

The following post is not for the faint of heart.

I have been struggling most of the night trying to decide if I should post this news report. My concern is that I do not want to add to anyone's sick and perverted lifestyle and posting this article on my site may give some mother fucking pedophile ideas for his or hers next victims. Therefore, I will not be linking to The Tesco Direct site.

Tesco condemned for selling pole dancing toy

Mother of two Karen Gallimore was searching for Christmas gifts for her two daughters, Laura 10, and Sarah, 11, when she came across the 'toy'

Tesco has been forced to remove a pole-dancing kit from the toys and games section of its website after it was accused of "destroying children's innocence".

The Tesco Direct site advertises the kit with the words, "Unleash the sex kitten inside...simply extend the Peekaboo pole inside the tube, slip on the sexy tunes and away you go!

"Soon you'll be flaunting it to the world and earning a fortune in Peekaboo Dance Dollars".

The £49.97 kit comprises a chrome pole extendible to 8ft 6ins, a 'sexy dance garter' and a DVD demonstrating suggestive dance moves.

The kit, condemned as 'extremely dangerous' by family campaigners yesterday, was discovered by mother of two Karen Gallimore who was searching for Christmas gifts for her two daughters, Laura 10, and Sarah, 11.

Mrs Gallimore, 33, of Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, said yesterday: "I'm no prude, but any children can go on there and see it. It's just not on."

Dr Adrian Rogers, of family campaigning group Family Focus said yesterday that the kit would "destroy children's lives".

He said: "Tesco is Britain's number one chain, this is extremely dangerous. It is an open invitation to turn the youngest children on to sexual behaviour.

"This will be sold to four, five and six-year olds. This is a most dangerous toy that will contribute towards destroying children's innocence."

He added: "Children are being encouraged to dance round a pole which is interpreted in the adult world as a phallic symbol.

"It ought to be stopped, it really requires the intervention of members of Parliament. This should only be available to the most depraved people who want to corrupt their children."

Tesco today agreed to remove the product from the Toy section of the site, but said it will remain on sale as a Fitness Accessory, despite the fact that the product description invites users to "unleash the sex kitten inside".
You can read the rest of the article here

What the fuck is this company thinking? How can they justify selling this product? Why after public outrage would they still keep selling the product as a Fitness Accessory?
And before any of you start thanking God that this product is not being sold in the US, it may be just a matter of time before someone decides to do so.

For all of you fuckingassholemotherhumping pedophiles out there... May you all burn in Hell!

O.M.G!!! This is unreal. I was just adding the scripts you asked for and saw this post. It's unbelievable that this is out there AND concidered a toy!!! As a mom to a 13 year old and 9 year old daughters, this makes me want to hurl!

Yup, we're going straight to hell in a hand basket!

I can't believe the company is still selling the product.

Guess the company doesn't care who it hurts, as long as it doesn't effect their bottom line and profits.

Are these people born again Christians? Sounds like it to me!

I know in some places pole dancing has become a bit of a rage amongst adult women as a form of excercise. Thats well and good for them if they've made a choice to take it up and if they can seperate it from its origins. But to market it to kids, expecially with tag lines like "unleash the sex kitten inside" and "Soon you'll be flaunting it to the world and earning a fortune in Peekaboo Dance Dollars" is so very wrong. Worse than that thing going around a few months back about companies selling push-up bras for six year olds.

As a girl who was born and brought up in the UK until 2 years ago, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I find this horrific. What makes me REALLY angry is the fact that Tesco's is, by and large a grocery supermarket.

However, While Tesco were stupid enough to have this item on sale, I don't think they're the ones to be slammed. The ones to be slammed are the company who actually invented and MADE this product. They're the ones who need their heads pulling out of their A**es! They can say that it's for adults who want to try and get fit all they like - but being made in cute pink and silver colours, and being on sale in the kids section says it all.

This is what the MTV generation has done to innocence. Children are forced to grow up and think about it, do you really see many advertisements for age appropriate toys for kids? Not very often. When I was a kid at their age I still thought girls were the enemy. Well at least Barbi does not yet have a pole...or does she?

Luna~ You know when I first read this article I felt sick to my stomache also.

I would be interested to know if Parliament will be asking for copies of the purchasing receipts for this item. I am sure there are copies of credit card reciepts or gift cards.

barb~ For the record the article does not mention the manufacturer of this so called toy. If it is made in the UK, it would be interesting to find out how Parliament and the wonderful people who live there would deal with them.

Rav'N~ I have seen classes here in San Diego for pole dancing and the classes were highlighted on the local news. I think they are great because they are for 'adults only' and the classes can be of help with self confindence issuses or marriage problems. I also remember the articles about the 'push up' bras for little girls. It made me just sick.

Lyndon~ You are right my friend, where there is a demand, someone out there will fill the supply.
How do they look themselves in the mirror every morning?

Dawn~ Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to comment.

You bring up some excellent points my dear! I believe that all of the responsible parties involved in the Tesco's purchasing department of this item should be fired immediately.

marie~ Your site was down for maintenance for most of last week. When it did come back up, it would not let me comment at all. Good to see you are back up and running!

Geoffe~ As far as I know Barbie has never had a pole. She does however have the 'male gay icon' for a boyfriend. =D

Does it come with a little stripper outfit too.

Whomever came up with this should get mental help....now!

Disgusting. This is all part of the movement to sexualize our children. Have you seen the clothing for little girls lately?
