I Am Still Waiting!

I did what you told me ...
I sent the email to 10 people like you said ..
I'm still waiting for that miracle to happen .

To all my friends who in the last year sent me best 'wishes', chain letters, 'angel' letters or other promises
of good luck if I forwarded something,
NONE OF THAT WORKED!
Next time, could you please just send your treasure, Rum, chocolate,
Bodice Daggers or
Flintlocks instead!
Thank you!

♥ Rain

Thanks for the email dad ;0)

2009 Pyrate Week in New Orleans

a href="http://www.pyratecon.com">

NOLA Pyrate Week
New Orleans, Louisiana
3/28 - 4/5/2009

Nine Days of Pyracy in the French Quarter

Our Mission is to host a History making event. It is our goal to bring an army of pyrates to New Orleans for nine days and nights of celebrating the Spirit of Pyracy in the New Orleans French Quarter and surrounding areas. Our intent is to have Pyrate Week participants engage in “acts of piracy” in the form of volunteering their time and talents to the many volunteer programs in New Orleans. All the while enjoying the hospitality, culture, charm, and excitement of this great City!

Many local individuals, krewes and business establishments of New Orleans have expressed their desire, enthusiasm and eagerness to host and be a part of such a history making event wherein they can show off their beloved city and hospitality.

Our goal is to bring thousands of pyrates to help in the clean-up and rebuilding of this amazing City! In addition, many individuals and krewes of New Orleans have also expressed their interest in participating in an “Adopt a Pyrate” program, wherein they will “adopt” and play host to Pyrates coming in from distant ports.

Additionally the Pyrates coming to New Orleans who volunteer to work will be accommodated with encampment space during Pyrate Week. It is our hope that the volunteers donate their time and talents for three 8-hour days during Pyrate Week. The Pyrate Week organizers intend to feed all the volunteer pyrates at least once a day, every day for the entire run of Pyrate Week. This will be a monumental task. Your consideration and support is deeply appreciated. We expect that expenses should be nominal in that, the individuals and krewes of New Orleans are of a very generous nature and have a good deal of resources.

Transportation to and from New Orleans will be up to the individuals who intend to come and participate in Pyrate Week.

There will be opportunities for local artists, pyrate artisans and vendors to exhibit and sell during Pyrate Week at a number of locations throughout the French Quarter and New Orleans.

Of the many activities scheduled for Pyrate Week, they include:
  • Dutch Pyrate Dinning in the French Quarter
  • Rogue Pyrate’s Revel
  • Haunted Pub Crawl and Tour.
  • Opportunities for Cemetery and Swamp Tours
  • Kid Pyrate Gathering in Jackson Square
  • Historical Pyrate Encampments
  • Sword & Black Powder demonstrations
  • Ship to Shore Cannon battle
  • Pyrate Parade
  • Charity Auction, Bloke and Wench Auction oh yeah baby ;0)
  • Premier Edition of the 2009 Pyrate Olympic Games!

I do hope that you be a part of 2009 Pyrate Week in New Orleans! If you can’t make it, we look forward to seeing you next year. Tell all your friends about this fantastic opportunity and history making event; Pyrate Week in New Orleans 2009

Lusty Winds Mates! See you in New Orleans!

Being Grateful

October is...Please visit NBCAM

Joe and Michelle

Today I am grateful for;

The small amounts of measurable Rain that San Diego County received last week.
The Community Watch Program that is active in my neighborhood. Without it I would no longer have my recyclables. Recycling adds almost eighty dollars month to my emergency savings fund.
I was able to visit and speak with Rusty for the first time in almost four months. Since Rusty’s arrest back in October 2006, he is now drug and alcohol free, has regained the ability to put coherent sentences together and has gained almost ninety pounds. Wahoo!
Our justice system with all of its flaws, it is still the best in the world. Rusty’s criminal case had three continuances last week. After a lengthy discussion with Rusty’s attorney I understand his reasons and agree with them.
Joe’s girlfriend Michelle left San Diego to start College at UC Riverside. Michelle is intelligent, has a good head on her shoulders and has the potential to become a professional writer. I have no doubt that she will be a positive influence in society and we wish her the very best in her future endeavors.
The comfortable silence between the closest of friends.
Coming home... and knowing you're welcome.

Tonight I am going to see Hootie & The Blowfish at Humphreys Concerts by The Bay. I love their music, it is powerful and passionate Rock N Roll with a soulful message. Australian born, San Diego based, singer/songwriter Kai Brown will open for Hootie & The Blowfish. Yay me!
I would like to take this time to thank Bill and James for your emails concerning the post below this one;
Bill~ My heart goes out to you and I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for kind words and encouragement.
James~ You are very naughty ;) It is good to know that I am your favorite pirate girl...oh and "the girls" are very real and natural.
Okay everyone have a great hump day!

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Octobers Pirate...

Sorry I've decided to take this photo down.

Me and my girls in support of...

Most of you already know that I had quite a scare earlier this year after having my first mammogram (here). Recently a very good friend of mine Cheri, was diagnosed in the early stages of breast cancer. My Aunt Yvonne died in 1990 after a ten year fight from breast cancer and her daughter, Leonie is a breast cancer survivor. I am sure that most of you reading this either has a family member, friend or a co-worker that has had breast cancer. Early detection will increase your odds of surviving breast cancer. This post is not just for women, men can get breast cancer also.

Questions to Ask Your Doctor

Learning about the diagnosis and treatment options available may help you to make decisions about your care. The first step in the learning process is a conversation with your physician. Every woman's breast cancer diagnosis is different. What a physician recommends for one woman may not be right for another. Developing a list of questions to ask is a good first start to addressing concerns and getting information. Here is a list of basic questions on advanced breast cancer to get the conversation started.

ABOUT BREAST CANCER

  • What stage is my breast cancer? What does this mean?
  • What are my chances of responding to treatment?

ADVANCED BREAST CANCER

  • Is my breast cancer hormone receptor positive?
  • Why has my breast cancer recurred?
  • Does this mean my treatment will have to change?
  • What are my chances of responding to treatment?

TREATMENT OPTIONS

What are the treatment options for my stage of breast cancer? Why or why not would these treatments help me?

  • Surgery
  • Radiation
  • Chemotherapy
  • Hormonal therapy
  • Biologically targeted therapy
  • Clinical trial participation
  1. What treatment options, oral or injectable, are available for me as an advanced breast cancer patient?
  2. What treatment do you feel will work best for me? Why are you recommending this treatment?
  3. What are the possible side effects of this treatment? Will it make me feel sick? What kinds of food will help me? Or where can I get advice on meal planning?
  4. Will this treatment allow me to continue to be involved in my normal daily activities? If not, would another treatment be better for me so I can remain active?
  5. Will the treatment affect my family? What do they need to know?
  6. Will the treatment affect my appearance? If so, are there other options that will not change the way that I look?
  7. What if my current therapy does not continue to benefit me? Are there any other options?
  8. What types of hormonal therapies are available to me? Will it be beneficial? Is there any treatment I could be prescribed that does not have to be taken daily?
  9. What are the latest advances in hormonal therapies?
  10. How often will I be able to see my health care professional?
  11. How will I know if the treatment is working?
  12. What are the side effects?
  13. How can I manage side effects?
  14. What side effects should I tell you about?
  15. Will I need follow-up care?

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
What studies are currently under way for women with advanced stage breast cancer?
Do you recommend a clinical trial for me? How can it help?
Where can I get further information on my stage of breast cancer?
Where can I find additional support?
Please be sure to let your doctor know all the medications (prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal supplements) you currently take. Also, check with your doctor before starting any other medication.

Once again I have a very busy week ahead of me, I will be in court three times to support Rusty. I will be so happy when these issues are resolved. Sigh.

Top Ten Pickup Lines for the Lady Pirates

By popular demand ... Via: International Talk Like A Pirate

10. What are YOU doing here?
9. Is that a belayin' pin in yer britches, or are ye ... (this one is never completed)
8. Come show me how ye bury yer treasure, lad!
7. So, tell me, why do they call ye, "Cap'n Feathersword?"
6. That's quite a cutlass ye got thar, what ye need is a good scabbard!
5. Aye, I guarantee ye, I've had a twenty percent decrease in me "lice ratio!"
4. I've crushed seventeen men's skulls between me thighs!
3. C'mon, lad, shiver me timbers!
2. RAMMING SPEED!
...and the number one Female Pirate Pick-up Line:
1. You. Pants Off. Now!

Here are some simple rules to follow when you are wooing a wench. VIA: International Talk Like A Pirate Day

Rule #1 Never appear to be "needy." Wenches will have no respect for a pirate who begs for it. Present an aloof (but fresh smelling) air. Give her the impression that you could do without her or her kind. As a show of your aloofness, kiss a fancy lad full on the mouth and let her see you do it. Nothing screams "come-hither" like the woman who thinks ye may fancy the lads a bit too much.

Rule #2 Get in touch with the comic inside you. Wenches love to laugh. Try walking into the mizzenmast while looking another direction or slipping in chum spillage. Humor is the best knicker-removal system known to man. With the right joke or anecdote, you will have her bloomers under your bunk in no time.

Rule #3 Above all, act like you've been thar before. This is not something you learn in one of them fancy schmancy "books" with the charcoal drawings. (Although, the books are more easily put away when you are done with them.) Experience is not so nearly important as the "appearance of experience."

Swashbuckler Poetry fer me heart.....

Love Pirates
by Joseph Millar

I follow with my mouth the small wing of muscle
under your shoulder, lean over your back, breathing
into your hair and thinking of nothing. I want
to lie down with you under the sails of a wooden sloop
and drift away from all of it, our two cars rusting
in the parking lot, our families whining like tame geese
at feeding time, and all the bosses of the earth
cursing the traffic in the morning haze.
They will telephone each other from their sofas
and glass desks, with no idea where we could be,
unable to picture the dark throat
of the saxophone playing upriver, or the fire
we gather between us on this fantail of dusty light,
having stolen a truckload of roses
and thrown them into the sea.
